In 2021, after the relaunch of the Ford Bronco, Ford released the FordPass Performance mobile application. The vehicle-specific implementation of the FordPass Performance app guides Bronco owners over more than 2000 trails across the US, Canada, and Mexico. When the mobile app was nearing completion, the FordPass Performance team engaged me to lead the design for the in-vehicle component. The off-roading experience required a seamless handoff from the app as well as a design harmonious with the center stack and cluster.
Problem:
How do off-road adventurers navigate between waypoints on a pre-planned route?
Solution:
Keep guidance minimal, present robust map data, and make recording video easy.
